Pinckneyville CUSD approves volunteer assistant football coaches

The Pinckneyville Community High School District 101 Board of Education met July 25 to approve volunteer assistant football coaches.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the board:

"District 101 Board of Education, partnering with parents and the community, will provide our students with the educational foundation to enable discovery of their own possibilities. Each student will reach their full potential based on academic excellence in concert with a strong work ethic. Teachers will provide social integration of subject matter and relevance to the student by instituting innovative teaching, instructional methodologies and maintaining a strong work ethic. Our young citizens will become self-sufficient adults who will succeed and contribute as they step forward into the world community."

MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF PINCKNEYVILLE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT #101, PERRY COUNTY, ILLINOIS, HELD ON THE 25TH OF JULY, 2016, AT 6:30 P.M. IN THE PINCKNEYVILLE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING IN THE PINCKNEYVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

The Board of Education of Pinckneyville Community High School District #101, Perry County, Illinois, met in a regular session on the 25th of July, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinckneyville Community High School in that district. The following officers and members of the Board were present: Greg Thompson, President; Lisa Stanton, Secretary, Brian Kellerman, Kyle Pursell, Paul Kuberski and Greg Bigham. Jennifer Robb was absent. Keith Hagene, Superintendent, Dustin Foutch, Principal, and Kathryn Restoff, recording secretary, were also present.

Visitors present: Dwayne Epplin, Joey Vancil, Stuart Morgenstern.

It was moved by Greg Bigham and seconded by Brian Kellerman to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Visitors were welcomed and invited to address the board. No comments were made from the public.

Mr. Hagene updated the board about the facilities and budget.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Kyle Pursell to approve the use of the Pinckneyville Community High School name to the Perry County Soccer League for club activity scheduling purposes for the 2016-2017 school year. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Greg Bigham to start the process to have the soccer co-op completed for the start of the 2017-2018 season to compete as a fully recognized IHSA sport. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

There were no Freedom of Information Requests received this month.

It was moved by Paul Kuberski and seconded by Lisa Stanton to approve the 2017 regular board meeting dates as presented. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Paul Kuberski to approve the purchase of the 2017 Blue Bird 71 passenger bus from Central States Bus Sales for the purchase price of $77,440.00. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried. It was moved by Greg Bigham and seconded by Lisa Stanton to adopt Resolution R- 2016-8 abating $55,945.00 in taxes levied against General Obligation Bonds Series 2011, dated January 1, 2011, Schedule 5965-20, as presented. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Paul Kuberski to have all closed session minutes from January 1, 2016 through June 30, 2016 remain closed and confidential. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Lisa Stanton to approve the Resolution R-2016-7 authorizing the destruction of all recordings of closed session minutes conducted by the Board prior to January 1, 2015. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Mr. Hagene conducted a first reading of policy manual updates.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Paul Kuberski to approve the teacher/consultant partnership with Tamaroa District #5. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Brian Kellerman to employ Shawn Plumlee, Jim Hammers, Brad Thornton and C.J. Opp as paid Assistant Football Coaches for the 2016-2017 school year. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Lisa Stanton to approve Randy Schoonover and Eric Imhoff as Volunteer Assistant Football Coaches for the 2016- 2017 school year. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Lisa Stanton to employ Kyle Heckert as Freshman Boys Basketball Coach for the 2016-2017 school year. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Greg Bigham and seconded by Kyle Pursell to employ Nolan Kellerman as Sophomore Boys Basketball Coach for the 2016-2017 school year. Roll call: Brian Kellerman, yes; Paul Kuberski, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Kyle Pursell to adjourn the meeting at 7:49 p.m. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
