City of Red Bud Cultural Committee met August 25.

Here is the agenda as provided by the Committee:

Committee Members Present: Donald Thompson, Kyle Donjon, Glenn Linnertz, Mike Reed

Committee Members Absent: Clem Esker

Council Members Present: Bill Hanebutt, David Friess, Clarence Nail

Council Members Absent: None

Others Present: Mayor Tim Lowry, Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Administrative Assistant Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Thompson called the meeting to order at 7:46 P.M.

Old Business

I. 150th Year Celebration in 2017 Update

1. Special Request

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the request from the Red Bud 150 Committee to hold movie nights at Lincoln Park on Friday, May 12 and September 15, 2017, (rain dates May 19 and September 22, 2017) and assistance with closing the streets around city hall, access to electric hookups, as needed for the Memorial, stage and carnival area and use and assistance in moving of the tables and trash cans from Ratz and Lincoln Parks for the October 5-8, 2017 Big Event., with no fee. Carried

2. Update

Long sleeve shirt will be sold. There will be a float in the lighted parade. The Memorial Wall may be set up at Dieterich Bank parking lot. A car show is being considered.

New Business

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting July 25, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the minutes from the July 25, 2016 meeting. Carried

II. Request from the Action Auction Services to Close a Portion of Bloom Street – August 28, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Linnertz, to approve the request from Voss Auction Services to close off Bloom Street from Market Street, south for ½ block, on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 9:30 A.M. for the Red Bud Tire and Battery Center auction. Carried

III. Request from St. John the Baptist Catholic School to Reserve Lincoln Park Pavilion #1, Less Reservation Fee – Saturday, September 17, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve the request from St. John the Baptist Catholic School to reserve Lincoln Park #1 on Saturday, September 17, 2016, with no fee. Carried

IV. Request from Cub Scouts Pack 342 to Reserve Ratz Park Pavilion #2, Less Reservation Fee – September 11, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the request from Cub Scout Pack 342 to use Ratz Park #2 for their Fall Recruitment, on September 11, 2016, with no fee. Carried

V. Request from Shriners to Collect at the Four Way Stop – September 9, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Donjon to approve the request from the Shriners to collect at the 4-way stop on Friday, September 9, 2016, from 3:00-6:30 P.M. Carried

VI. Request from Knights of Columbus to Collect at the Four Way Stop – September 17, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the request from the Knights of Columbus, to collect at the 4-way on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 8:00 A.M. -12:00 P.M. Carried

VII. Request from Red Bud Lions Club to Collect at the Four Way Stop – Friday & Saturday, October 14-15, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Linnertz, to approve the request from the Red Bud Lions Club, to collect at the 4-way on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15, 2016. Carried

VIII. Request and Resolution No. 16-006 – Red Bud Chamber of Commerce – Holiday Happenings Event

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve the request from the Red Bud Chamber of Commerce to approve Resolution No. 16-006, “A Resolution Authorizing Approval Of The Street Closing For The Red Bud Chamber Of Commerce Lighted Parade/Holiday Happenings”, help with the required barricades on Saturday, November 19, 2016 and use of the municipal parking lot, with a temporary electric service and use of tables. Carried

IX. Request from Red Bud Fire Department to Collect and Collaborate for PDR Levee Efforts – September 23, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the request from the Red Bud Fire Department, to collect at the 4-way on Friday, September 23, 2016, to benefit the PDR Levee efforts. Carried

X. Request from Senior Center to Assist with Sponsorship toward Senior Shuffle to be Held on Saturday, September 17, 2016

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the request from the Senior Center to become a sponsor of the 5K Senior Shuffle on Saturday, September 17, 2017, with a $50 fee. Carried

XI Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Committee Member Linnertz said the Scouts are interested in having an overnight camp out in the park and wanted to know if there were any objections, before they submit a formal request. There were no objections voiced and this has been done in the past.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:56 P.M.
