Outstanding students, clubs and faculty members were honored by the College of Agricultural Sciences at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale recently.
During the 65th Annual All Ag Banquet, Susan Graham, assistant to the dean, was awarded the Elkins Excellence in Education Award, and Peter Dirks, lecturer in agribusiness economics and coordinator of recruitment, retention and placement, received the Minish Outstanding Mentor/Adviser Award.
The Collegiate Farm Bureau and the Forestry Club tied for most outstanding clubs, with the SIU Equestrian Team recognized as a runner-up.
Students who earned honors or scholarships included Gabrielle Fry, who was named Outstanding Senior, and Danielle Freelove, who was runner-up. Outstanding Junior was awarded to Renee Kinzinger, and Graydon Baima and Elizabeth Lewis tied as runners-up.
Honors also went to the i2i scholars involved in mentored research: Graydon Baima and mentor Gary Apgar, Jordan Bramlett and mentor Jon Schoonover, Kayla Broster and mentor Karla Gage, Cara Engel and mentor Amer AbuGhazaleh, Molly Groninger and mentor Jeremy Davis, and Alexis Johnson and mentor Karen Jones.
