State Sen. Dale Fowler’s (R-Harrisburg) will hold a town hall event in Carbondale on April 1 after he finishes a month full activity in his home district.
Constituents are invited to help themselves to refreshments and learn more at the legislative forum, slated from 9 to 11 a.m. at Carbondale Township Building, 216 E. Monroe in Carbondale, where Fowler will be joined by Sen. Paul Schimpf (R-Murphysboro).
Staying close to home over the past week along with many of Illinois’ elected officials also concentrating on local matters, Fowler recapped his district’s top priorities via his website, chronicling onsite visits and conversations with students about government in addition to upcoming events.
In Shawnee School District on March 22, along the banks of the Big Muddy and Mississippi rivers, Fowler joined Schimpf to speak with Shawnee High School students, who have been actively involved in a long-term levee education project addressing the district's environmental needs.
The project has taken on even more significance as legislators recently succeeded in passing measures to provide critical improvements to river levees.
The senator traveled to Vienna in Johnson County on March 24, engaging students in junior high social studies classes about the importance of civic involvement.
Fowler also toured Alexander and Union county sites regarding infrastructure issues, advocating for government funds in support of a proposed Cairo port authority.
