City of Columbia Public Library Board of Trustees met Jan. 10.

Approval of Minutes
Previous meeting minutes were reviewed,
Krista Schoellhorn made motion to approve and Cindy Waldemer seconded. Motion passed.
Public Comment No requests for comment.
Treasurer's Report No report at this time.
Approval of Current Bills November and December bills were reviewed.
Motion to approve was made by Rodney Schreckenberg and seconded by Diane Stechmesser.
Motion passed.
Correspondence A letter thanking the Board for library staff Christmas gifts was read. Library Director's Report Acting Director Annette Bland updated the Board on upcoming events scheduled for January and February including the Friends of the library Book Sale Jan. 27, 28 and Take Your Child to the Library Day on Sat. Feb. 4, a national event.
Old Business The order for an awning has been placed and should be installed in 4 to 5 weeks. Serpentine Logo Design Services have been contacted to submit ideas for a library logo at a cost of $225,
New Business
An award was presented to Friends of the Library for participation in Songs for Soldiers. There was a discussion of improving the lighting in the library. There is a possibility of a grant to help pay for this through the utility company. Annette Bland will check this. Annette will also get bids for ADA compliant door. New Board member Cindy Waldemer was introduced to Board. There was a discussion of Illinois Public Library Standards as part of the Per Capita Grant requirements. A memorial was made to the library from James Conrad Ruppert family. Annette also reviewed circulation stats and new materials for December. Shane Watson suggested a Little Free Library project that the library and possibly a local organization might like to institute. The Board was also informed of a donation from the Norman Kutterer family of $171,064.78 to the Friends of the Library organization to be used for educational programs at the library. It is currently in a Charles Schwab account.
Executive Session. At 7:55
Kathleen Habermehl entertained a motion to suspend the regular meeting to open an Executive Session to discuss personnel. Krista Schoellhorn made the motion and Shane Watson seconded. At 8:06 Krista Schoellhorn made motion to adjourn Executive Session and Shane Watson seconded. Krista then motioned to unsuspend regular meeting and Kathleen Habermehl seconded. Motion passed. Regular meeting reopened with the announcement that the Board had accepted the application for the Library Director's position from Annette Bland.

Diane Stechmesser made motion to adjourn meeting. Rodney Schreckenberg seconded the motion. Motion Passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:20.
