Massac County Unit School District #1 Board of Education met May 2.

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education of Massac County Unit School District #1 was called to order in the Superintendent’s Office, located at 401 Metropolis Street, Metropolis, IL 62960, at 5:00 pm by Board President, Mr. Mark Souders.
Roll call:
Present: Jeff Brugger
Don Koch Jennifer Larrison Kathy Rushing Larry Sommer Mark Souders Bobette Steele
Also Present: Jason Hayes, MCHS Principal
Lisa Monkman, Secretary to the Board of Education
Public Comments – None.
At 4:00 pm with a motion from Rushing and a second from Larrison the Board voted to go to closed session to consider information relative to employment, appointment, or dismissal of specific employees or officers, collective negotiating matters between employers and their employees or representatives; to discuss litigation – probable, imminent, pending or filed: and student expulsion hearing. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing, Sommer, Steele and Souders voted yes.
Board returned to open session at 4:24 pm.
Superintendent’s Report – Jason Hayes, MCHS Principal gave report
A motion was made by Koch and seconded by Steele to amend the 2016-2017 School Calendar as presented. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing, Sommer, Steele and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.
With a motion from Koch and a second from Steele the Board voted to accept the resignation of Kelley Sullivan, MCHS Senior Class Sponsor (1/2); and Jill Shelton, MCHS Spanish Club Sponsor. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing, Sommer, Steele and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.

Non Health Care Insurance – Property, Auto, W/C, etc.
Transfers noted: Stephanie Woodward, Franklin 6th Grade; and Melissa Brooks, MJHS Cross Categorical.
At 4:42 pm with a motion from Sommer and a second from Rushing the Board voted to adjourn. Roll call: Brugger, Koch, Larrison, Rushing, Sommer, Steele and Souders voted yes. Motion carried.
