Franklin County Road & Bridge Committee met February 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by chair, Danny Melvin. Not present were, Randall Crocker and Robert Pierce, in attendance were, Franklin County Clerk, Greg Woolard, Franklin County Treasurer, John Gulley, Franklin County Circuit Clerk, Jim Muir, Franklin County Coroner, Marty Leffler, Franklin County Engineer, Mike Rolla, Franklin County Supervisor of Assessments, Cindy Humm, Franklin County Board Administrative Assistant, Gayla Sink, Franklin County Recycling Coordinator, Keith Ward and other interested parties.

Danny Melvin submitted the highway department claims, which were approved and signed by all members present.

Franklin County Engineer, Mike Rolla reported the Almond Road project would start next week. Mr Rolla stated he had received a circular letter from IDOT announcing a grant program and explained same. Mr Rolla reported a train derailment in Cave township that had caused approximately $280,000.00 damage to township roads, approximately along a stretch of 10 miles, Mr Rolla reported on the Brown and Roberts Engineering agreement and Eastern township road damage from the coal mine.

David Rea reported the glass on the top of the County Board room conference room had been broken and submitted a bid to replace, the consensus of the board was to go forward with the replacement, a copy of said glass bid is hereby attached as a part of these minutes. Mr Rea reported on Courthouse furnace repairs and conducting tours of the Courthouse.

Gayla Sink receiving several calls concerning downed or missing road signs, discussion followed.

The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
