The City of Chester budget was $19.12 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $9,122.36 per household.

That's an increase of 4.8 percent from 2014, when the city spent $18.25 million, or $8,706.11 per household.

Chester has 2,096 households and a population of 8,586.

Since 2001, the City of Chester budget has fallen by 28.8 percent, from $26.84 million. The city population has grown 65.6 percent over the same period, from 5,185.

Salaries accounted for 13.2 percent of city spending in 2015. Chester property taxpayers paid $2.52 million for 48 full-time employees and 58 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 46 full-time employees and 158 part-time employees, and spent $2.61 million.
