Pledge of Allegiance

Approval of Minutes — Motion by Anderson, second by Griffin, that we approve the

minutes of May 15, 2017. Motion carried, with all voting in favor.

Officials' Reports —

a. Road Commissioner — We have been mowing, doing shoulder work and working with

the county and the city on the possibility of replacing some culverts. There seems to be a

jurisdiction inconsistency as to who is responsible for what. We are still researching this

and will advise. We have also received compliments on how nice the mowing looks.

b. Assessor — We are busy with exemptions and, as always, answering questions on the

tax bills that just came out. Martin also submitted her letter of resignation as she plans on

retiring at the end of June.

c. Clerk — None

d. Trustees — None

e. Cemetery — They are thinking about taking an aerial picture of the cemetery for the SMT

web page. Martin stated that she has received a compliment on how nice the cemetery

looks.

f. Seniors — Everything is going well. We are starting to research kitchen upgrade options,

as cupboards are in bad shape.

g. Youth — We received a thank-you from Moline project graduation and from Moline

wrestling for the recent donations. Youth Hope has submitted a request for a donation to

sponsor participants at their upcoming summer camp. According to Best, last year SMT

donated $400.00 for two people to attend. After some discussion, there was a motion by

Anderson to donate $400.00. Second by Griffin, all ayes, motion carried.

Best stated that he recently met with representatives from the YMCA and they again are

looking for donations for their summer enrichment camp. Last year we donated $3,000.00

to sponsor attendance and $1,000.00 for swimming lessons. There are over 700 kids that

attend, with 222 from SMT. After some discussion, there was a motion by Anderson to

donate $3,000.00 for camp attendance and $1,000.00 for swimming lessons. Second by

Lundahl, all ayes, motion carried.

We received a request for a donation for a new touch-screen monitor from the Moline

High School Library. After some discussion, Best will respond that SMT is concentrating

on organizations that are more involved with the needy. Also, while we would not mind

contributing, we want to see some effort to raise funds from other avenues.

Supervisor's Report —

a. GA: Pending 3, Active 17; Approved 3; Denied 1; Terminated 5; for a total of 29.

EA: Denied 1.

b. Best presented Ordinance # 2017-01 for prevailing wage agreement stating this is

required by Illinois statute. After some discussion, there was a motion by Griffin to adopt

said ordinance. Second by Forsberg, all ayes, motion carried.

Unfinished Business — Martin asked the status of St. Giuseppe’s Pizza. Best stated that

they have not 100% moved out and are still paying rent until the end of June. Lundahl asked what

the monthly rent is and Best answered $1,500.00/month. Martin stated that it would be nice to

use their sign and put up a SMT sign, as some people have a hard time finding our office.
