South Moline Township Board of Trustee met May 15.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Present — Tracy Best, Supervisor; Karin Martin, Assessor; Andrea Anderson, Trustee; Lisa

Griffin, Trustee; Mark Lundahl, Trustee; and Rob Vyncke, Clerk. Absent: Brian Forsberg, Trustee

and Bob Schultz, Road Commissioner.

Meeting Called to Order — Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Supervisor Best.

Pledge of Allegiance

Approval of Minutes — Motion by Anderson, second by Griffin, that we approve the

minutes of May 02, 2017. Motion carried, with all voting in favor.

Officials' Reports —

a. Road Commissioner — Best stated that they have been doing shoulder repair to fix the

damage the ice jam caused. They have also been doing some spring cleaning.

b. Assessor — All is good. The tax bills are out so we have been getting phone calls.

c. Clerk — None

d. Trustees — Griffin reported that some of the Moline High School students showed up at

the Senior Center to provide technical assistance, but no seniors showed up. They have

discussed it and will wait until next year to try it again.

e. Cemetery — There is a meeting this Thursday, May 18.

f. Seniors — All is going well. The kitchen area is showing its age, as some cabinets need

repair. Best will start researching upgrade options.

g. Youth — The YMCA has finally called back concerning our inquiry about donating to their

summer camp program. Best will be meeting with them again in the near future.

Supervisor's Report —

a. Budget: Best presented the updated budget showing all changes as discussed.

Anderson stated that she is agreeable with the budget as it is now, except that she would

like to see some limits on employee compensations. After some discussion, there was a

motion by Griffin that we approve the Road & Bridge budget as submitted. Second by

Anderson. All ayes, motion carried. There was a motion by Anderson to approve the

Town Fund budget as submitted. Second by Lundahl. All ayes, motion carried. There

was a motion by Anderson to approve the GA budget as submitted. Second by Griffin.

All ayes, motion carried.

b. Employee Compensation: Best stated that he will be doing the annual review of SMT

office employees. Best stated that he does an evaluation of each employee, including

what can be done to be more efficient, cut cost, etc. Best also stated that due to

insurance costs being up, the employees are actually making less money.

New Business — Best will be looking at updating the SMT flyer and asked all for any ideas or

suggestions. Best stated that he would like to have an informal meeting to discuss SMT goals.

3. Township Senior Center — Motion by Anderson for approval; second by

Lundahl. Ayes: Anderson, Griffin, Lundahl, and Best. Unanimous.

b. Town Fund — FICA — Motion by Lundahl for approval; second by Griffin. Ayes:

Anderson, Griffin, Lundahl, and Best. Unanimous.

c. Town Fund — IMRF — Motion by Griffin for approval; second by Anderson. Ayes:

d. General Assistance — Motion by Anderson for approval; second by Lundahl. Ayes:

f. Road & Bridge / IMRF Fund — Motion by Griffin for approval; second by Anderson.

g. Road & Bridge / FICA Fund — Motion by Anderson for approval; second by Lundahl.

h. Road & Bridge / Equipment & Bldg — Motion by Lundahl for approval; second by

Anderson. Ayes: Anderson, Griffin, Lundahl, and Best. Unanimous.

j. Cemetery — Motion by Anderson for approval; second by Lundahl. Ayes: Anderson,

Griffin, Lundahl, and Best. Unanimous.

Adjournment — Motion by Anderson, second by Lundahl, that we adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried, with all voting in favor. Meeting adjourned @ 6:32 pm.
