South Moline Township Board of Trustee met May 2.
Here is the minutes as provided by the board:
Present — Tracy Best, Supervisor; Andrea Anderson, Trustee; Brian Forsberg, Trustee; Lisa
Griffin, Trustee; Bob Schultz, Road Commissioner; and Rob Vyncke, Clerk. Absent: Kim Lazenby,
Trustee, and Karin Martin, Assessor.
Meeting Called to Order — Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Supervisor Best.
Pledge Of Allegiance
Approval of Minutes — Motion by Griffin, second by Forsberg, that we approve the minutes
of April 18, 2017. Motion carried, with all voting in favor.
Officials' Reports —
a. Road Commissioner — Drainage ditches are now draining much better after they have
been cleaned out. We will be meeting with the county soon to start road resurfacing
requests for bids. We have one estimate so far for pest abatement.
b. Assessor — Martin had emailed the board a list of all the duties of the Assessor.
c. Clerk — None
d. Trustees — Anderson stated that she met with a SMT resident who is complaining about
dilapidated property, stating that he has already called the EPA. Schultz said the township
has no authority over personal property.
e. Cemetery — None
f. Seniors — Best stated that all is going good. We did have one incident and had to ask
one attendee to leave.
g. Youth — Best stated that he is looking into the possibility of establishing a youth
committee to research and find good youth organizations to donate to. Anderson stated
that she had a discussion with an individual concerning new band uniforms for Moline HS.
Supervisor's Report —
a. GA: Pending 3; Active 23; Denied 1; Term 1; Withdrawn 1; Total 29.
EA: Pending 1: Denied 1; Total 2. WR: Denied 1.
b. Best stated that we have not heard from the YMCA concerning their summer enrichment
camp for kids and swimming lessons. He has even called them.
Unfinished Business — Best presented the proposed updated budget that showed actual
expenditures compared to budget line items. Some discussion followed. Schultz suggested that,
according to a seminar he attended, all money should be assigned to a line item. All agreed. Best
stated that we must vote on the budget at the next meeting.
New Business — There was some discussion as to whether we should again lease the building
next to the SMT Office after the current tenant vacates. All agreed we should lease again.
