Waltonville Community Unit School District 1 Board met June 29.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

Budget Hearing called to order at 6:15 P.M. 

Present: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, and Williams. Absent: Walker

Walker arrived at 6:25 P.M.

Amended Budget was discussed.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Williams to adjourn budget hearing at 6:30 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Regular meeting called to order at 6:30 P.M.

Motion by Eastham, Seconded by Walker to approve the minutes of the May 25th, 2017 Regular Meeting and June 5th, 2017 Special Meeting Minutes. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Anderson to approve the bills and treasurer's report as presented. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Walker to approve the Board Policies - 2nd Reading. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Discussion of Handicapped Van Purchase/Lease, tabled to get more information.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Anderson to go into closed session at 6:50 P.M. for the purpose of Discussing the Appointment, Employment, Compensation, Discipline, Performance or Dismissal of Specific Employees, and Student Issues. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Walker to go into open session at 7:19 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Discussion to hire School Spanish Teacher, tabled.

Motion by Norris, Seconded by Williams to hire Melissa Pickens as High School Math Teacher for the 2017/2018 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Discussion to hire Assistant High School Basketball Coach, tabled.

Discussion to approve Volunteer Assistant Boys Golf Coach, tabled.

Discussion to set Non-Certified Salaries/Hourly Pay Rates, tabled.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Anderson to approve Grade School and High School Cheerleading Uniforms. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Banach to purchase 3 loads of Sand and Clay Dirt for Softball and Baseball Fields. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Mrs. Waggoner gave Principal's Report.

Discussion of Nurse to take mission trip in January and be off with substitute.

Discussion of tuition for high school student wanting to enroll in district.

Discussion of student moving in district participating in open gym for summer.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Williams to approve substitute custodian Dylan Miller.

Motion by Williams, Seconded by Walker to hold a Special Meeting July 6, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. and Contract Negotions Meeting at 6:15 P.M. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.
