The Jefferson County Senior Saints Hall of Fame, which honors senior citizens who have demonstrated their dedication to community service and making a positive impact to the area, is accepting nominations for the 2017 class, according to a press release.
Nominating someone for the program, sponsored by Dr. Anthony Vacca at Crossroads Pulmonology, is a great way to recognize their contributions to the community, the release said. Nominees will be rated based on their record of community service and civic activities, love of country and community, ability to embrace change and response to adversity. Those submitting nominations must supply written descriptions of how the senior meets that criteria, along with a simple application form, to the selection committee by Sept. 16.
Seniors chosen for the hall will enjoy a banquet in their honor on Nov. 17 at Cedarhurst Center for the Arts.
Nominees must be 65 or older and living as of Jan. 1 of this year. They also must live in Jefferson County. Any seniors currently holding political offices are ineligible. Applications should be sent to the Senior Saints Committee at PO Box 454, Mt. Vernon.
