Chester Fire Department responded to 42 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the SW Illinois News.
The calls in Chester included 24 fires - 13 structure fires, three vehicle fires and eight other fires.
In all, the department saw $312,000 in fire loss - or about $13,000 per fire.
The department also received 18 false calls.
