Jackson County has posted openings for six board positions on its website, including with the water district and housing authority.

Eligible candidates must live in Jackson County and are required to submit an online application for the executive committee to review, which is done on the first Thursday every month. The committee might call candidates in for an interview on the same day it evaluates their applications.

The positions include one each for the Blairsville, Buncombe and Elverado water districts; a farmland assessment review coordinator; one with the housing authority; and one with the regional port district.

All positions are volunteer work and will remain open until filled.

To apply, candidates should download and complete the resume for county board appointment from the website and send it to the Jackson County Board Office, attention committee coordinator.

A Legislative Appointment Handbook can be downloaded as well, which details each board’s functions and requirements.

Direct questions to the committee coordinator at 618-687-7245.
