One lucky woman left the annual Pinckneyville Mardi Gras parade with a winning ticket worth more than $19,000 from this year’s 50/50 drawing, according to the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce website.
Cheryl Epplin bought the ticket on Walnut Street during the town's 95th annual Mardi Gras on Oct. 28.
The Pinckneyville chief of police drew the winning number that night, and Epplin received a certified check for $19,531.

Ticket sales climbed throughout the day, as volunteers sold tickets during the parade, raising the drawing total to $39,062.
Next year, 50/50 ticket sells will begin on Oct. 1 ahead of the 96th Annual Pinckneyville Mardi Gras on Oct. 27, 2018.
Certified vendors for this year’s ticket sells included Pinckneyville businesses such as The Flower Patch, First National Insurance, L3 Boutique, Stotlar Drug Store, First National Bank, Perry County Marketplace, McDaniel’s Furniture and TJ’s Liquor.
