Holiday spirit comes to Waterloo

Get into the holiday spirit during the 36th annual Christmas Walk in Waterloo.

The event is scheduled for the weekend following Thanksgiving, Nov. 25-26, according to a press release from the city of Waterloo. Christmas on the Walk Activities and attractions include free carriage rides, music and an appearance by Santa Claus.

Participating merchants will offer shoppers stamp cards. After getting the cards stamped at each store, shoppers may turn them in to enter a drawing for $1,000 in gift certificates.

Coffee, cocoa and peanut cake will be available during an open house at City Hall, scheduled for 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26. The House of Neighborly Service plans a Scholastic Book Fair in the old firehouse, 223 S. Main St. The book sale will be buy one, get one free.

The Oddfellows Hall plans to host a “Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen” cookie sale. Shoppers and strollers will also have the chance to vote for their favorite decorated lamppost at Courthouse Square.
