Dr. Paul Jacobs, who is running against incumbent Rep. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) in the March primary, has made his campaign official, formally filing petitions to run, according to a press release from the candidate.
“During the last few weeks, I have been meeting voters and gathering signatures for my petitions and what I have seen is a lot of frustration with what is happening in Springfield,” Jacobs, who is running for Illinois’ 115th House District, said in the release. “People are fed up with career politicians who do not represent them or their values. I have formally filed the paperwork to be a candidate for State Representative to stand up for the betrayed taxpayers in the 115th District. Many working people are working more than one job just to pay their bills. We need a conservative leader who will stand up to the Chicago political machine and put Southern Illinois families and Southern Illinois values first."
Jacobs is an optometrist and local business owner who spent six years in the U.S. Navy. He has spoken out on many issues in interviews with SW Illinois News and the Carbondale Reporter, including the need to reduce taxes on families and businesses.
