Columbia Public Library Board of Trustees met November 14.
Here is the minutes provided by the Board:
The November meeting of the Columbia Public Library Board was called to order by President Dan Brutton at 7:00. In attendance were Rodney Schreckenberg, Kathleen Habermehl, Annette Bland, Shane Watson, Chris Trowbridge, Barry Krizan, Dan Brutton, Cindy Waldemer, and Diane Stechmesser.
1. Approval of Minutes Motion was made by Barry and seconded by Kathleen to approve minutes. Motion passed.
2. Public Comment No one submitted request for Comment.
3. Treasurer's Report Rodney reported the budget was in good shape. Real estate tax monies would be coming in. Fines and fees numbers down. Both regular seasonal changes to budget.
4. Approval of Current Bills Rodney made motion to approve payment of bills. Kathleen seconded. Motion passed.
5. Old Business
New Library Trustee. There is a possible new member to Board. The City would like new members to submit short bio. This request will be given to the interested person.
Corporation File Information was given to the office of Schorb and Schmershal. Papers were signed and a fee of $61.00 will be paid.
6. New Business
Per Capita Continuing Education. At the next staff meeting, there will be an online review focusing on safety in the library. The staff will attend a training session on active shooter training on Dec. 6 with city hall.
Holiday Closures The library will be closed Wed. Nov. 22 at 5:00, Thurs. Nov. 23' and Fri. Nov. 24" for Thanksgiving holiday.
Christmas Lunch The Board will provide library staff with lunch before the Christmas holiday.
Employee Return Angela Crabtree has been released to return to work with some restrictions after neck surgery. Annette is working with city hall to cover compliance and work details.
Liability Insurance The Library Board is covered under the city's general liability policy. The library pays a portion of the premium.
Continuing Education Annette informed Board about Power Up Conference she and some staff members attended. This conference was presented by the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce. She felt this was a very beneficial conference and information would be shared with other staff members.
Friends of the Library The Friends group has donated $1500.00 to date to the Daugherty Library. This money comes from all book sales.
Events Twenty-two library events have been scheduled for November.
