Pinckneyville Community High School District 101 Board of Education met Oct. 23.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The Board of Education of Pinckneyville Community High School District #101, Perry County, Illinois, met in a regular session on the 23rd of October, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinckneyville Community High School in that district. The following officers and members of the Board were present: Greg Thompson, President; Lisa Stanton, Secretary; Jennifer Robb, Brian Kellerman, and Greg Bigham. Keith Hagene, Superintendent, Penny Corn, recording secretary, and Dustin Foutch, Principal, were also present.

The Pledge of Allegiance was conducted and PCHS Mission Statement was read by President Greg Thompson.

It was moved by Greg Bigham and seconded by Jennifer Robb to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Kyle Pursell arrived at 6:33 p.m. Jeff Suchomski arrived at 6:34 p.m.

Visitors present: Debbie Giacomo, Steve Williamson, Aaron Hawk, Keaton Hawk, Jay Ray, Bob Waggoner, Marilyn Smith, Sydney Cacioppo, Amy Cacioppo, Betty Cacioppo, Carl Cacioppo, and Stuart Morgenstern.

Visitors were welcomed and invited to address the Board.

Steve Williamson congratulated the Panther Volleyball team on their successful season. Jay Ray spoke thanking the Board for allowing the soccer program to become a reality. He also thanked Coach Waggoner for accomplishing the task of quickly scheduling the boys’ season. Keaton Hawk thanked the Board, and expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to play Panther soccer his senior year. Marilyn Smith asked Mr. Hagene to request IDOT to not have road closures on State Route 154 this Friday, which is Mardi Gras weekend.

Dr. Foutch introduced Sydney Cacioppo, the Murphy-Wall October Student of the Month. She was commended for maintaining her high GPA while participating in cross country, archery, and soccer. He was very proud to share that Sydney intends to become a teacher, and assured everyone that she will be an asset to the profession.

Coach Waggoner gave a fall sports report.

Mr. Hagene has received the responses from the Requests for Qualifications he sent to architects.

One FOIA Request was received this month from the American Watchdogs Inc.

There are no out-of-state trip requests.

Mr. Hagene recommended the following tentative tax levy: 7% Balloon; Education Fund $1,042,000; Operations and Maintenance $283,200; Transportation $135,950; Working Cash $56,650; Municipal Retirement $65,000; Social Security $85,000; Fire Prevention and Safety $56,650; Tort Immunity $390,000; Special Education $22,600; Leasing $56,650; Total Operating Levy $2,193,700.

It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Kyle Pursell to approve the tentative levy as presented. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Jennifer Robb, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Kyle Pursell to approve an hourly raise of.40 to non- certified staff members employed by Pinckneyville Community High School District #101 for the 2017- 2018 school year, and increase office sub pay to $10.00/hour, and increase substitute teacher pay to $85.00/day, and adjust sub-aide pay to $10.00/hour. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Jennifer Robb, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

Volunteer winter sports coaches to be approved are as follows: Nolan Luke and CJ Opp for Boys Basketball, and Nathan Scalf, Shawn Hiller, and Adam Epplin for Wrestling.

It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Jeff Suchomski to approve the winter sports volunteer coaches for the 2017-2018 school year as presented. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Brian Kellerman to approve fund transfer resolution 2017- 7 as presented. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Jeff Suchomski, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Jennifer Robb, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.

It was moved by Jeff Suchomski and seconded bay Kyle Pursell to adjourn the meeting at 7:44 p.m.
