City of West Frankfort City Council met December 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

1. Mayor Jordan Called The Meeting To Order At 7:00 p.m. Requesting A roll Call All Commissioners Were In Attendance, Along With The City Attorney And Deputy City Clerk.

2. Mayor Jordan asked For Approval Of The Minutes From The December 12, 2017 Regular Council Meeting Commissioner Harkins Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Simpson Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

3. Mayor Jordan Next Asked For Approval To Pay City Bills And Payroll in The Amount Of $439,443.19. Commissioner Simpson Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Blades, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

4. The Next Item Was Approval Of An Ordinance Making The Annual Tax Levy For The City Of West Frankfort, Illinois, For The Fiscal Year Commencing On The First Day Of May, 2017 And Ending On The Last Day Of April 2018. Commissioner Simpson Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Blades, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

5. The Next Item Was Approval To Publish 2018 Meeting Dates For City Council, Planning Commission, Lake Committee, Police And fire Pension Board And Police & Fire Merit Board. The Mayor Stated We Have A List Of Dates Here We Will Go Through And Look At Thanksgiving Next Year Falls On The 22npso That Won't Interfere With our Council Meeting Christmas Falls In The Middle Of The Week On The 25 So We Can't Have The Council Meeting On That Day so My Recommendation Is To Have It On The 27 It's A Thursday At 10:30. Commissioner Blades Stated Why Don't We Have Our Council Meeting's Start at 6:00 p.m. like Everybody Else. Commissioner Harkins Stated I Am Good With 6:00pm.

Commissioner Blades Stated Whatever You Want To do Am Just Throwing Something Out There Commissioner Chambers Stated Work Until 6:00 And Would Like To Have Time To Run Home And Eat Before The Meetings So Make A Motion That All The Meetings Except For December 27 To Beat 7:00 p.m. and December 27 At 10:00 am. The Mayor Stated The Planning Commission Meets The 4 Monday Every Third Month, Fire & Police Pension Board Meets 2np Friday Every Third Month, Lake Committee Meets 3pthursdayeach Month And The Merit Board Meets The First Thursday Of Every Month Commissioner Chambers Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Simpson. Roll Call Vote: Commissioner Harkins, Commissioner Simpson, Commissioner Chambers And Mayor Jordan Woted To Approve Commissioner Blades Voted No. Motion Carried.

6. The Next Item Was Approval Of An ordinance Amending The Hours Of Operation Under Chapter 5.04 Alcoholic Liquor, Section 5.04.21 O Hours Of Operation For New Years Eve The Mayor Stated I spoke With The Tavern owners And This Year New Years Eve Falls On Sunday And According To Our Ordinance They Have To Close at 11:00 pm. The Tavern Owners Want To Have The Ability To Stay Open Like It Was a Saturday Night On Page Three The Middle Paragraph We Have Added An Additional Section. It States When New Years Eve Falls On Sunday Those Place Operating Under a Lawful Issued Liquor License Shall Be Aloud To Sell Alcohol Liquor From 9:00 am On new Year's Eve Until 2:00am On new Years day. Commissioner Chambers Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Blades, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

7. The Next Item Was Approval Of An Ordinance Authorizing The Leasing Of A Specific area Of The West Frankfort Business Incubator. The Mayor Stated It Will Be Leased To Baker Capital Limited They Are Already At Our Business Incubator And Have Signed A 5 Year Lease They Would Like To extend Their Lease With Us For S945.00 A month For Five Years. Commissioner Blades Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Chambers. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

8. The Next Item Was Approval For The Purchase Of A Commercial Stainless Steel Refrigerator In The Amount Of $2,830.00 For The Event Center At The West Frankfort Mall. The Mayor Stated We Have Been Looking At This Because We Have no Refrigerator Out There We Also Have A Lady Who Is Interested In This Space, She Has Had a Restaurant Before And Don Has Been Talking With Her About Possibly Leasing This Area. Commissioner Chambers Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Blades, Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

9. The Next Item Was Approval For Payment Of An Invoice From Heartland Office Supply For $3,264.00 For The Printing Of Water Bills And Past Due Water Bill Forms For The Water Department. Commissioner Blades Made A motion To Approve, Seconded By Commissioner Simpson. Roll Call Vote: All Commissioners And Mayor Jordan Voted To Approve Motion Carried.

11. Mayors Report:

The Mayor Stated Think Things Are Going Great Would Like To Recognize The Police Chief He Would Like To Say A Few Comments About Shop With A Cop, Police Chief Mike Irwin Stated The Shop With The Cop That Deputy Chief Talluto Sets Up Became More Of A Community Project This Year. We Had Over 100 Children That Benefited From This The School System Chooses These Children And They Did a Very Good Job, It Could Bea Life Changing Experience For Some Of These Kids. Recognized The Fact That The Community Took a Real Serious Interest In This And Thought It Was Done Very Well Thank You To The Retail Merchants And The Community Should Be Very Proud. A Lot Of People Individually As Well As The Businesses Support It Financially And They Do It Out Of The Goodness Of Their Heart and I Don't Think They Get Enough Recognition For That.

12. Commissioner Comments:

Commissioner Simpson Stated Think The Police And fire Are Doing Great.

Commissioner Blades Stated I Am proud Of My Chiefs They Get A Lot Of Calls And Are Doing Great.

Commissioner Chambers Stated It Hasn't Snowed So We Are Doing Great.
