Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

I.Call To Order

The City Council of Chester, Illinois, met in regular session on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in the Municipal Building, 1330 Swanwick Street. Mayor Tom Page called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

II.Roll Call

III.Pledge Of Allegiance

IV.Reading Of Minutes Of Previous Meeting

Alderman Crossland moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting and to approve them as prepared by the city clerk. Alderman Clark seconded the motion. Upon roll call: Ayes: Aldermen Crossland, Rader, Ohlau, Clark, Blechle, Allison, Platt, Geisen. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

V.Correspondence

The following correspondence was acknowledged:

•Monthly Status Report provided by Chief M. Ryan Coffey

•Maintenance Report for the month of December provided by Randy Eggemeyer

VI.Reports

Mayor:

Mayor Page advised that a meeting was held with a representative from the Comptroller’s Office regarding the Department of Corrections outstanding utility bills. The representative stated that some funds should be released in four to six weeks.

VII.Committee Reports

Cemetery & Finance Committee (Chairman Platt):

Chairman Platt advised that the committee met prior to the council meeting at 5:30 p.m. to review city bills. Chairman Platt moved to approve payment of bills as prepared by the city clerk, subject to audit. Alderman Rader seconded the motion. Upon roll call: Ayes: Aldermen Crossland, Blechle, Platt, Rader, Ohlau, Clark, Allison, Geisen. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Chairman Platt moved to approve the December report of the Evergreen Cemetery as prepared by Randy Wofford. Alderman Allison seconded the motion. Upon roll call: Ayes: Aldermen Crossland, Blechle, Platt, Rader, Ohlau, Clark, Allison, Geisen. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

VIII.Department Heads

Chief of Police (Ryan Coffey):

The monthly status report was summarized by Chief Coffey. Chief Coffey noted that presentation of Citizen Service Awards and Staff Lifesaving Awards will be presented at the next council meeting. Also, Chief Coffey noted that the Cops & Kids at Christmas program helped provide Christmas for approximately eighty children.

Executive Session—Minutes:

Alderman Crossland moved to determine that minutes of previous Executive Sessions are still confidential and should not be made available to the public. Alderman Clark seconded the motion. Upon roll call: Ayes: Aldermen Crossland, Blechle, Platt, Rader, Ohlau, Clark, Allison, Geisen. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.

Executive Session—Verbatim Records:

Alderman Crossland moved to keep all verbatim records of Executive Sessions more than eighteen months old. Alderman Clark seconded the motion. Upon roll call: Ayes: Aldermen Crossland, Blechle, Platt, Rader, Ohlau, Clark, Allison, Geisen. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried

XII.Adjournment

At 6:17 p.m., Alderman Crossland moved to adjourn the meeting. Alderman Clark seconded the motion. Vote: Ayes: Aldermen Crossland, Blechle, Platt, Rader, Ohlau, Clark, Allison, Geisen. Nays: None. Absent: None. Motion carried.
