Academic results data released recently reveals 21 percent of Coulterville Junior High School students are considered on track for the next grade level, according to a SW Illinois News analysis of the latest Illinois schools report card.

The end-of-year tests known as the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, are administered to third- through eighth-graders in Illinois, testing them in reading and math based on Common Core standards. A composite score combines the results of the subject tests.

Another 29 percent approached expectations, 35 percent partially met expectations and 15 percent did not meet expectations. Students who scored in these categories are not ready for the next level of schooling, according to the test.

Test results at Coulterville Junior High School, which enrolled 39 students in 2017, fell below state averages.

Statewide, 34 percent of students passed the test and 66 percent failed.
