City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met January 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Committee Members Present:Glenn Linnertz, Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Clem Esker, Curt Guebert

Committee Members Absent:

Council Members Present: Mike Reed, David Friess, Susan Harbaugh

Others Present:Mayor Tim Lowry, City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Linnertz called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.

Old Business

I.Power Plant

1.Plant Report

Eckart reported that IEPA had done an inspection on December 20th and everything was good. Generator #1 had some problems on a run and will need some repairs

II.Safe Routes to School

Nothing to report

III.Utility Funds

1.Electric Fund Update – “I” Circuit

Eckart reported on a recommendation from BHMG on replacement/repairs to the “I” circuit. Estimated cost would be $523,900. This involves 4-5 circuits. Eckart was asked to get an exact written plan of what would be done and bring it back to the committee.

2.Gas Fund Update

Eckart reported that the west line gas project cost about $30,000 this year, for a total estimated cost of $175,000 to date, with $10,000 work yet to be done. Thirty gas valves have been replaced at a cost of $39,000 this year. To finish the other valves is estimated at $26,000, to be worked on over the next couple of years, only replacing the critical ones. Discussion was held on changing the allocation for the gas fund back to 25% from $35% (increase electric to 60% from 50%) and charging customers a $5 monthly meter charge. Poetker will email all the information that Dustin had provided for their meeting, regarding the status of the gas fund, to the council members.

3.Water Fund Update – Revised Tap Request Form

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve Ordinance No. 1394, “An Ordinance Amending Chapter 38 Of The Revised Code Of Ordinances Pertaining To The Water System”. Carried

New Business

I.Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting December 18, 2017

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve the minutes from the December 18, 2017 meeting. Carried

II.Musket Lighting Project Request

Rodney Nevois presented information about RBHS plans to install new lights at the football field and offered the old lights to the Muskets at no cost. The contractor for RBHS will deliver the poles to Lincoln Park. Nevois would like permission to put them on the Musket field and place two poles so they would also light the baseball field at Lincoln Park. The Muskets are requesting assistance from the city with setting the poles and help to run the primary wiring circuits for the lighting. The Muskets will pay the monthly bills. The Muskets would take care of any costs after the installation. This will be presented to the Parks & Recreation Committee.

III.Sewer Adjustment – 405 Friendly Drive

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve authorizing a sewer credit of $320.21 for a water leak that did not enter the sewer system at 405 Friendly Drive. Carried

IV.Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

None
