Waltonville Community Unit School District 1 Board met February 26.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Board meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m. Present: Anderson, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker and Williams. Absent Banach.

Motion by Eastham, Seconded by Walker to approve the minutes of the January 25, 2018 Regular Meeting. Yea: Anderson, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Banach arrived at 6:33 p.m.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Eastham to approve the bills and treasurer's report as presented with additional bills totaling $4,262.40 (Quill $130.43, Wal-Mart $588.27, Loyd Electric $175.00, Staples $110.79, Warner Communications $1,935.00, Power Trans $195.28, ROE $375.00, GFI $104.42, Lanter $4.09, Curt Smith $209.00 and Frontier $435.12. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris, Walker, and Williams. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Recognition of Public. Heather Jones discussed potential safety measures that the Board may want to consider in light of recent school shootings. Mrs. Jones presented the Board with a document listing several suggested measures that the school may want to institute.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Walker to approve the renewal of the Illinois High School Association's Membership for the 2018/2019 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Williams left 7:15 p.m.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Eastham to approve Benay Walker as a volunteer training coach for the high school girls basketball players. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Banach to approve Matt Dressler as a volunteer coach for the boy's high school baseball team. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Banach to hire Alan Haley as the Waltonville Grade School Athletic Director for the 2018/2019 school year. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Walker, Seconded by Norris to approve the purchase of sod for the school's softball and baseball fields totaling $1,649.60. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Walker to approve the purchase of Schedule Star for the 2018/2019 school year with the annual subscription of $875.00 and a $250.00 set-up fee. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Walker to go into closed session at 8:03 p.m. for the purposes of Discussing the Appointment, Employment, Compensation, Discipline, Performance, or Dismissal of Specific Employees, and Student Issues. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Banach, Seconded by Anderson to come out of closed session at 8:59 p.m. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Anderson, Seconded by Walker to approve the following field trips: 2018 Career Fair at Rend Lake for 8th grade students on March 2, 2018, SCOFY Break and Career Fair at Rend Lake for 8th grade students on March 16, 2018 and a trip to Adam's Farms for the 3rd – 4th grade students on April 5, 2018. Yea: Anderson, Banach, Eastham, Frick, Norris and Walker. Nay: None. Motion Carried.
