City of Waterloo Gas Committee met April 2.
Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:
The meeting was called to order by Alderman Notheisen at 6:45pm. In attendance were committee members Aldermen Darter, Thomas, Hopkins and Heller. Also in attendance from the City were Shawn Kennedy, Tim Birk, Aldermen Buettner, Row and Trantham and Mayor Smith.
Minutes from the January 2nd were previously approved at the February Utility Meeting.
Chairman Notheisen distributed the planned purchase of Natural Gas Futures and led a discussion about said purchase. A motion was made by Alderman Thomas and seconded by Alderman Hopkins. The purchase recommendation was approved with a vote of 4-1, with Alderman Darter voting no.
We had a brief discussion of the Gas portion of the 2018-2019 Annual Budget. We discussed the capital expenditures of almost $1.3 million for AMI meters and the high pressure gas line. We referred to previously passed ordinance related to temporarily raising gas prices to offset high expenditures. It was decided that we would not take action to raise prices and would allow the payments to come out of our cash reserves that will easily handle the expenditures.
Motion to adjourn was made by Alderman Thomas and seconded by Alderman Hopkins. Motion passed 5-0. Meeting was adjourned at 7:07.
