Report: Columbia spent $8,353 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Columbia Community Unit School District No. 4 is up 5 percent from five years ago, according to a SW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Monroe County school district spent $7,949 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,353 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2061 to 1994.

Columbia's spending in 2016-17 was 36 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
