Report: Waterloo spent $9,081 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Waterloo Community Unit School District 5 is up 2 percent from five years ago, according to a SW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Monroe County school district spent $8,930 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,081 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2777 to 2701.

Waterloo's spending in 2016-17 was 30 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
