City of Red Bud Personnel Committee met May 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee:

Committee Members Present: Kyle Donjon, Susan Harbaugh, Glenn Linnertz, David Friess, Mike Reed

Committee Members Absent:           

Council Members Present: Clem Esker, Curt Guebert, Bill Hanebutt

Others Present: City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Others Absent: Mayor Tim Lowry

Committee Chairman Donjon called the meeting to order at 8:44 P.M.

Old Business

None

New Business 

I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – April 16, 2018

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Harbaugh, to approve the minutes from the April 16, 2018 meeting. Carried

II. Termination of Employee – Potential Executive Session

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Harbaugh, to recess into executive session to discuss termination of an employee. Carried

Committee went into executive session at 8:45 P.M. (5 ILCS 120/2 (c) (1))

Committee returned from executive session at 8:53 P.M.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Friess, to approve the Mayor’s termination of Eric Schaefer.  Carried

III. Authorization to Post Job Opening – Utility Department

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Donjon, seconded by Committee Member Linnertz, to approve the posting of the job opening, internally for ten days, for the street lead person position. Carried

IV. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Donjon questioned what dictates why some hiring and firing are under personnel committee and sometimes it is done under other committees.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:57 P.M.
