Pinckneyville Rural Fire Protection District responded to 26 calls in 2017 - 116.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Pinckneyville Rural included 25 fires - nine structure fires, four vehicle fires and 12 other fires.

In all, the department saw $948,980 in fire loss - or about $37,959 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Pinckneyville Rural Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $126,150 in 2017.
