Ellis Grove Fire Department responded to 24 calls in 2017 - 71.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Ellis Grove included 22 fires - 13 structure fires, four vehicle fires and five other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $8,000 in fire loss - or about $364 per fire.

The department also received one false call.
