City of Red Bud Public Works Committee met April 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Committee

Committee Members Present: Glenn Linnertz, Kyle Donjon, Bill Hanebutt, Clem Esker, Curt Guebert

Committee Members Absent:

Council Members Present: Mike Reed, David Friess, Susan Harbaugh

Others Present: Mayor Tim Lowry, City Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Admin. Assist. Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Linnertz called the meeting to order at 7:37 P.M.

Old Business

I.Power Plant

A.Plant Report

Eckart reported Generator #1 is getting closer to being back online. The catalyst for Unit #7 were shipped today and should be up and running by the end of the month.

II.Utilities/Streets

A.Electric

The “I” circuit was discussed. A temporary fix is estimated at $100,000. Eckart will check with BHMG to make sure that this fix will not interfere with the IDOC funding request for an “urgent need” project.

B.Gas

Meter fees will be discussed at the next meeting.

C.Water

The well pump work is ongoing for well #2.

D.Sewer

Repairs to the west plant and South Knotty Pines lift station are partially finished.

E.Streets

None

New Business

I.Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting March 19, 2018

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve the minutes from the March 19, 2018 meeting. Carried

II.Rick Timmons Training Request – Water Tanks & Reservoirs O & M

This is a required training and was received after the council meeting; therefore the Mayor approved Timmons attending.

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve authorization for sending Richard Timmons to training entitled “Water Tanks and Reservoirs O-M”. It was on April 12th in Benton, IL; registration fee was $56.00 and transportation was required. Carried

III.2018 IMEA/IMUA Annual Conference

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Hanebutt, to approve authorization to send the Mayor and Josh Eckart to training at the “2018 IMUA/IMEA Annual Conference & Trade Show” on May 31 – June 1, 2018 in Springfield, IL. Carried

IV.Sewer Adjust Request – 320 S. Main Street

Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Linnertz, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve authorization to credit the account at 320 South Main Street, (Lois Mesnarich), for $925.27. They had a water leak that did not enter the sewer system. Carried

V.Residential Expansion – Rodney Nevois

Rodney Nevois and Doug Sachtleben spoke to the council about their concern to retain and grow the population of Red Bud, by working with developers to provide upper level subdivisions to help with the tax base, utility usage, etc. They noted that the city has done of wonderful job of job development, but many of those workers are not moving to Red Bud.

VI.Clearwave Right of Way Agreement

No action taken

VII. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City

Eckart said that he has a new system in order to better contain the cost/use of rental equipment.
