Pinckneyville School District 50 Board of Education met June 13.
Here is the agenda provided by the Board:
The president called the meeting to order and directed the secretary to take roll. The roll was taken and Austin Marlow, president and the following members were present: Scott Carney, Kyle Pursell, Greg Conway and Craig Lazenby. Gideon Hutchcraft and Aaron Johnson were not in attendance. Also present were the following people: Tim O’Leary, Scott Wagner, Mark Rohlfing, Tyson Tanner, Brittany McConachie and Shari Kovic.
A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Pursell to approve the agenda. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Lazenby and seconded by Carney to approve the minutes of the previous regular meeting on May 17, 2018 as presented. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Carney to approve the Treasurer’s Report for May 17, 2018 as presented. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.
The bills for the month of June 2018 were submitted for payment. A discussion of the bills was held. A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Pursell to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote: Yes –Carney, Lazenby, Conway, Marlow and Pursell. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made Pursell and seconded by Conway to approve the Imprest Fund Report for May 2018 as presented. Roll call vote: Yes – Carney, Marlow, Pursell, Lazenby and Conway. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Lazenby to accept milk bid from Prairie Farms Dairy and bread bids from Bimbo/Earthgrains for the 2018-2019 School Year. Roll call vote: Yes- Hutchcraft, Conway, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Pursell to accept changes to the Student Handbooks and Athletic Policy as presented for the 2018-2019 School Year. Roll call vote: Yes- Hutchcraft, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell, Conway and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried
Policy Manual Updates – Informational Item
A motion was made Carney and seconded by Pursell to allow Frontier to upgrade the phone service for Pinckneyville District 50. Roll call vote: Yes – Hutchcraft, Conway, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion Carried.
School Resource Officer – Informational Item
A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Pursell to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel and negotiations. Time 7:23 p.m. Roll call vote: Yes- Hutchcraft, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell, Conway and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Pursell and seconded by Carney to come out of executive session. Time 7:51 p.m. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Pursell to hire Marty Wettig as Head Softball Coach for the 2018-2019 School Year. Roll call vote: Yes- Hutchcraft, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell, Conway and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Lazenby to hire Dana Kellerman as Assistant Softball Coach for the 2018-2019 School Year. Roll call vote: Yes- Hutchcraft, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell, Conway and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Pursell to hire Kyle Smith as Assistant Baseball Coach for the 2018-2019 School Year. Roll call vote: Yes- Hutchcraft, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell, Conway and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Lazenby to hire Kyle Smith as Special Education Teacher for the 2018-2019 School Year. Roll call vote: Yes- Hutchcraft, Lazenby, Carney, Pursell, Conway and Marlow. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Pursell to hire Kathleen Kelley as First Grade Teacher for the 2017-2018 School Year. Roll call vote: Yes-Carney, Pursell, Marlow, Hutchcraft and Johnson. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Pursell to appoint Barbie Templeton as Board Secretary. Roll call vote: Yes-Carney, Pursell, Marlow, Hutchcraft, Conway and Lazenby. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Lazenby to adopt a Resolution recognizing Mr. Timothy O’Leary for Twenty-Three years of outstanding service to Pinckneyville District 50. Roll call vote: Yes- Carney, Pursell, Marlow, Hutchcraft, Conway and Lazenby. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Carney and seconded by Marlow to adjourn the meeting. Yes – 6 No – 0. Motion carried.
