CITY OF COLUMBIA: City Seeks Letters of Support from Businesses

Local gov stock 01

City of Columbia issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.

The following entities: Monroe County (City of Columbia, City of Waterloo, Village of Valmeyer) and Randolph County (City of Red Bud, City of Chester, City of Sparta) are pursuing designation in a new Enterprise Zone. The Enterprise Zone's mission is to create and retain jobs and to spark investment within an area. The Enterprise Zone offers certain State of Illinois tax incentives (sales tax exemption, Enterprise Zone machinery and equipment consumables/pollution control facilities sales tax exemption, Enterprise Zone utility tax exemption, Enterprise Zone investment tax credit) which may be received upon investment occurring in the Enterprise Zone. There is no disadvantage to being part of the Enterprise Zone.

The City of Columbia is seeking letters of support from our community businesses to aid the collective entities mentioned above in our application for Enterprise Zone designation. The process is competitive and your letter will help us gain a competitive advantage. Please copy and paste this sample letter of support onto your letterhead, fill in the appropriate blanks and return to:

Mayor Kevin B. Hutchinson

Columbia City Hall

208 S. Rapp Ave., Columbia, IL 62236
