Coulterville Unit School District 1 students suspended 36 times in a single school year

Coulterville Unit School District 1 reported 36 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 36 students during the year. That equates to 16.7 percent of the 216 students enrolled.

Of the 34 in-school suspensions, including 19 elementary or middle schoolers and 15 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 29 incidents. There were five incidents of violence without physical injury. For 31 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes two incidents. For two incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
