Pinckneyville School District 50 Board met July 19.

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

A regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #50, Perry and Washington Counties, Illinois was held at the Pinckneyville Grade School Building in said district at 7:00 p.m. on July 19, 2018.


The vice-president called the meeting to order and directed the secretary to take roll. The roll was taken and Kyle Pursell, vice-president and the following members were present: Greg Conway, Gideon Hutchcraft and Aaron Johnson. Scott Carney, Austin Marlow and Craig Lazenby were not in attendance. Also present were the following people: Scott Wagner, Mark Rohlfing,, Tyson Tanner and Michelle Gremmels.

A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Conway to approve the agenda. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Hutchcraft to approve the minutes of the previous regular meeting on June 13, 2018 as presented. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Johnson to approve the Treasurer’s Report for June 13, 2018 as presented. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

The bills for the month of July 2018 were submitted for payment. A discussion of the bills was held. A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Hutchcraft to approve the bills as presented. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Conway, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Johnson to approve the Imprest Fund Report for June 2018 as presented. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft,Conway, Johnson and Pursell. Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried.

Visitors and Committees were welcomed.

Freedom of Information Request – No Request

A motion was made by Conway seconded by Hutchcraft to accept the student/athletic handbook for the 2018-19 school year. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Conway, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 4 No – 0. Motion carried. ( Marlow arrives 7:20).

A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Johnson to approve the Ameren lighting incentives replacing existing lights with new LED bulbs for Pinckneyville Elementary and Pinckneyville Jr. High. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Conway, Marlow, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

The Board reviewed the Executive Session minutes for the past six months. A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Marlow to keep the Executive Session minutes confidential and to authorize destruction of audio recordings of Executive Session minutes from before January 1, 2017. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Conway, Marlow, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Hutchcraft to set board meetings for the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00pm. , except for the November meeting which will be held on the second Thursday ofthe month. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Marlow, Conway, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 5 No – 0.Motion carried.

A motion was made by Conway and seconded by Marlow to approve the policy manual revisions aspresented. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Conway, Marlow, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 5 No – 0.Motion carried.

Informational item-Mr. Wagner informed the board about the Budget for FY-2019. A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Conway to go into executive session for the purpose of discussing personnel Time 7:33 p.m. Roll call vote: Yes – Marlow, Hutchcraft, Johnson , Pursell and Conway. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Hutchcraft to come out of executive session. Time 8:00 pm. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Marlow to accept the resignation of Kasey Bauza, head girls' basketball coach effective immediately. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Conway, Marlow, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Hutchcraft and seconded by Conway to enter into agreement with Rend Lake College to hire an AmeriCorp worker for $3,000.00 for 2018-19 school year. Roll call vote: Yes – Hutchcraft, Conway, Marlow, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Johnson and seconded by Conway to hire Jeanine Halsted as an EOC Aide @$8.25/Hour for the 2018-19 school year. Roll call vote: Yes –Hutchcraft, Conway, Marlow, Pursell and Johnson Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Marlow and seconded by Conway to adjourn the meeting. Yes – 5 No – 0. Motion carried.
