Superintendent Pasero described the incident involving Jason Parrish, his son, and another student. Mr. Pasero stated that his son and the other student were arguing, which led to the student hitting his son twice. Parrish’s son found Mr. Parrish and the two approached the other student. Mr. Parrish asked for his name to which the student responded with only a first name. Superintendent Pasero went on to state that Mr. Parrish then told his son to attack the other student using a racial slur in the process. Mr. Pasero said that about that same time Principal Meyer arrived and pulled Parrish’s son away from the other student, letting him know that he would need to leave the premises. Parrish’s son asked if they could gather their things first and Mrs. Meyer approved. After several minutes passed, Mrs. Meyer approached Mr. Parrish and his son, again instructing them to leave to which Mr. Parrish protested. Mrs. Meyer then walked both Mr. Parrish and his son out of the football field area.
Mr. Parrish responded to allegations presented, stating that he and his son did approach the other student to find out his name for the purpose of reporting the other student to Principal Meyer. Mr. Parrish stated that he did not use a racial slur. Mr. Parrish stated that he only offered his son the option of reporting the other student to administration but that his son began punching the other student instead. Mr. Parrish also stated he had been told by an acquaintance the other student has a history of making claims of racial injustice.
Mr. Fricke motioned to approve a resolution barring Jason Parrish from extra-curricular events, both home and away, for a period of one calendar year. Mr. Colvis seconded the motion. Upon roll call all members voted yea. 4 yea, 0 nay, 3 absent; motion carried.
