Monroe County Clerk: Early voting set to exceed 2014

Vote 08

Early voting began across Illinois for the 2018 general elections and the number of early voters in Monroe County is higher than in 2014.

“We have had 715 requests for early ballots by mail,” Monroe County Clerk Dennis M. Knobloch said. "In 2014, we only had 697 early mail ballots.”

Knobloch said 325 people already voted in person versus 1,423 who voted in person during the 2014 election.

“The presidential election always brings out more voters,” Knoblock said.  “Normally we would compare the governor mid-term elections every four years. In comparing 2018 to 2014, we are now on pace to surpass the numbers from the 2014 election cycle.”

Early voting across Illinois started Sept. 27 and will go through Nov. 5, the day before the election.
