Waterloo Community Unit School District 5 Board met October 15. 

Here is the agenda as provided by the board:

I. Roll Call, Opening Comments.


II. Executive session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity; the purchase or lease of real property; and other matters relating to individual students. [5 ILCS120/2(c)(1)(5)(10)]

IV. Consent Agenda.

      A. Consideration to approve the minutes of the September 17, 2018 regular board meeting.

      B. Consideration to approve the executive session minutes of the September 17, 2018 regular board meeting.

      C. Consideration to employ Tamii Shufelt, as a full-time special education paraprofessional, for the 2018/2019 school year, effective October 15, 2018, contingent upon the results of a background check.

      D. Consideration to employ Rachel Gregson, as a full-time paraprofessional, for the 2018/2019 school year, effective October 22, 2018, contingent upon the results of a background check.

      E. Consideration to employ Aaron Laskowski, as a full-time special education paraprofessional, for the 2018/2019 school year, effective October 16, 2018, contingent upon paraprofessional licensure and the results of a background check.

      F. Consideration to employ Joshua Kurth, as a full-time special education paraprofessional, for the 2018/2019 school year, effective November 5, 2018, contingent upon paraprofessional licensure and the results of a background check.

V. Motion to accept the treasurer's report, student activity reports, and to authorize investments.

IX. Old Business.

      A. Consideration to authorize the Superintendent to enter into a contract agreement between Waterloo CUSD5 and Playground Equipment.com, in the amount not to exceed $46,040.00, for the purchase of playground equipment, at Gardner Elementary School.

      B. Consideration to approve the extra-duty assignments, effective for the 2018/2019 school year as per recommendation from the District Athletic Director, Mitch North, and Administration.

X. New Business.

      A. Consideration to set the tentative tax levy for 2018 taxes payable in 2019/2020; set the date, time, and place for a truth in taxation hearing on the proposed tax levy; and to meet other requirements of the truth in taxation laws in regard to said tax levy.

      B. Consideration to adopt a resolution to authorize an interfund loan, in the amount of $1,000,000, from the Working Cash Fund 70 to the Education Fund 10, effective October 15, 2018.

      C. Consideration to adopt a resolution to authorize an interfund loan, in the amount of $900,000, from the Working Cash Fund 70 to the Debt Service Fund 30, effective October 15, 2018.

      D. Consideration to adopt a resolution to authorize the issuance of $6,000,000.00 in Tax Anticipation Warrants in anticipation of the collection of taxes levied for 2017.
