Chester Community Unit School District 139 Board met Sept. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Chester Community Unit School District No. 139 met in the Chester Community Grade School Conference Room on September 20, 2018. President Hammel called the Special Meeting to order to conduct the Budget Hearing at 7:00 p.m. Members present: Dan Colvis, Trent Vasquez, Debi Caraway, Chuck Fricke, Mitch Hammel. Members absent: Tom Welge, Jamie Eggemeyer

Superintendent Pasero commented he generally tries to overestimate expenditures and under estimate revenues to account for a “worst case” scenario.

Changes noted to the Board in this year’s budget include:

 Additional evidenced based funding tier revenue of $4.4 million total. Mr. Pasero accounted for about 95% of this total.

 Title allotment down about $120,000

 Replacement of HVAC units at the grade school. (1% sales tax)

 Transferring some of the 60 Fund (Capital Projects) balance to the 30 Fund (Debt Service) to cover bond payments for

o 2015: FY18 approximately $200,000 and will do again in FY19

o 2013 (CGS gym): FY17 and FY18 approximately $570,000

 Added athletic transportation back for grade school

 Budget shows a -$44,042 deficit in the major funds

o Operation & Maintenance Fund: - $27,000 to account for the possibility of replacing a truck

o Transportation Fund: - $135,000

 Counting on 4 payments from the state this year. Last year we received 2 from 2017 and 3 from 2018.

Motion was made by Mr. Vasquez and seconded by Mr. Fricke to adjourn the special meeting at 7:05 p.m.

Upon roll call all members voted yea. 5 yea, 0 nay; 2 absent; motion carried
