Wilson's Funeral Home - Steeleville issued the following announcement.
STEELEVILLE – Ruby M. Scanlan, 73, of Steeleville passed away at 12:53 PM, Friday, January 18, 2019, at her home in Steeleville.
Ruby was born on September 11, 1945, in Boonville, Indiana, the daughter of Hubert and Ruth (Hoskin) Stevens. She married Dempsey W. Scanlan, in 1963, in Herrin, Illinois and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2013. She was a housekeeper at Freeburg Nursing Home and attended the Steeleville Baptist Church, and was a member of the Mannington, Kentucky Fire Department.
Ruby is survived by her children; Lela Foote, of Steeleville, Lloyd Scanlan, of St. Charles, Kentucky, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother; Gene Stevens, of Crofton, Kentucky.
Mrs. Scanlan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 brother; Cecil.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Dogwood Funerals and Cremation Service in Crofton, Kentucky with Rev. Dwight Brown, officiating, and burial will follow at the Old Burg Cemetery, Mannington. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at the Wilson’s Funeral Home in Steeleville where friends may call from 5 to 8 PM, and then on Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM, at the Dogwood Funerals and Cremation Service in Crofton. Memorials may be made to the Steeleville Baptist Church.
