Report: Columbia spent $8,425 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Columbia Community Unit School District 4 is up 7.6 percent from five years ago, according to a SW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Monroe County school district spent $7,827 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,425 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2056 to 2012.

Columbia's spending in 2017-18 was 36.8 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
