Report: Steeleville spent $8,449 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Steeleville Community Unit School District 138 is down 15.3 percent from five years ago, according to a SW Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Randolph County school district spent $9,970 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,449 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 435 to 471.

Steeleville's spending in 2017-18 was 36.6 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
