Sparta Community Unit School District #140 Board of Education met Jan. 31.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The special meeting was called to order at 4:54 p.m. by President Corey Rheinecker and upon the roll being called, Corey Rheinecker and the following members of the Board of Education answered present: Angela Craig, Howard Gallois, Kevin Holliday, Kenneth Kempfer and Alan Young. Absent: Bert Byington. Others present were: Recording Secretary Tina Witherby.

Angela Craig moved, Howard Gallois seconded to enter into executive session at 4:54 p.m. to discuss items related to specific employee performance/hiring. Roll call vote. Yeas: Craig, Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Kenneth Kempfer moved, Angela Craig seconded to come out of executive session at 5:47 p.m. Roll call vote. Yeas: Kempfer, Craig, Gallois, Holliday, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.

Kevin Holliday moved, Angela Craig seconded to approve a three-year contract with Chris Miesner as Principal at Evansville Attendance Center with an annual salary of $56,000 for the 2019-2020 school year; $59,000 for the 2020-2021 school year and $62,000 for the 2021-2022 School year and as Athletic Director at Evansville Attendance center for the 2019-2022 school years at an annual salary of $2,000. Roll call vote. Yeas: Holliday, Craig, Gallois, Kempfer, Young and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.

A discussion was held regarding OPAA Food Service. Personnel will be going on tours of other facilities in February.

A discussion was held regarding Perandoe using four rooms at Sparta High School for their PEP program.

Angela Craig moved, Alan Young seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:14 p.m. Roll call vote: Yeas: Craig, Young, Gallois, Holliday, Kempfer and Rheinecker. Nays: none. Motion carried.
