Russ Row

Steve Notheisen

Mayor Tom Smith

Meeting was called to order at 6:03pm

1. Petitions by Citizens on non-Agenda Items - none

2. Walks, Runs and Parades

Tom Smith brought up the fact that the crowds from the UCC church area up through the end of the parade route are not keeping a safe distance from the floats. We had this problem last year and tried to implement some controls by putting lines on the street and it hasn’t had much effect.

Tim Birk made the suggestion to require each float to have two people walking at the front of their pulling vehicle. Each safety walker would be required to wear a safety vest that they would have to provide and ensure the crowd is maintaining a safe distance.

Tom Smith made a motion to try the new idea.

Jim Hopkins seconded it

All members voted in favor of it

Motion passes

3. Traffic Control - Queen of Hearts

Helping Strays is interested in starting a Queen of Hearts. It would be located at Hopskeller on Thursdays nights at 7pm. Bill Dahlkamp and Bob Andress came to the meeting from Helping Strays, Matt Schweizer came from Hopskeller. Helping Strays would be the non for profit running the Queen of Hearts drawing,

Hopskeller would be providing the venue.

Mayor Tom Smith spoke with Matt about his idea to incorporate the wine bar if the crowd starts to get larger than Hopskeller can safely handle. We told them if the crowd would get too large and the city deems extra police are needed to be on duty for crowd control, they would be responsible for paying the extra officers.

4. Comments.

Mayor Tom Smith wanted to make the committee aware that a few local establishments are selling CBD it is a Hemp product that could be used as a vape or an edible. He called a few agencies and they all confirmed it was legal at this point.
