The Waterloo Center for the Arts’ annual All-School Art Exhibition will be on display during CultureFest. This exhibition is a display of more than 1,000 works of art by K-12 students in the Waterloo public and parochial schools; it showcases the impressive talents of young people and also the high quality art instructors in the Waterloo schools. This exhibition will be on display for the public’s view through April 28.
CultureFest shows how diversity in worlds of civic, education, and business makes our community a stronger place to live, work and play. The 2019 event will feature a variety of exhibits, performances, and special activities all relating to the theme of celebrating and embracing our community’s cultural diversity. More than 40 community organizations and groups will be on hand displaying their information. Visitors will have the opportunity to see cultural performances by community and students groups, as well as, sample a variety of international foods.
CultureFest began in 2008 as an expansion to the Waterloo Center for the Arts’ annual Waterloo All-School Art Exhibition. Since then, CultureFest has grown to an annual event where thousands of kids of all ages and their families take advantage of the opportunity to experience their community’s rich diversity.
CultureFest and the All-School Art Exhibition are free and open to the public thanks to the sponsorship of Tyson Foods, and the collaborative work of the Waterloo Community Schools, Waterloo Center for the Arts, the University of Northern Iowa, Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo Public Library, Volunteer Center of the Cedar Valley, ISU Extension and Outreach Black Hawk County, YWCA, and many local businesses who are donating their resources.
The Waterloo Center for the Arts is located at 225 Commercial Street in downtown Waterloo. The Center works in partnership with the community to build a stronger appreciation for the arts and to provide cultural experiences for people of all ages.
