Pinckneyville School District 50 Board met Feb. 25.

The Board of Education of Pinckneyville Community High School District #101, Perry County, Illinois, met in a regular session on the 25th of February, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinckneyville Community High School in that district. The following officers and members of the Board were present: Greg Thompson, President; Lisa Stanton, Secretary; Brian Kellerman, Jennifer Robb, Kyle Pursell, and Greg Bigham. Keith Hagene, Superintendent, Tony Wilson, Principal, and Penny Corn, recording secretary, were also present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was conducted and PCHS Mission Statement was read by President Greg Thompson.
It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Greg Bigham to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Kyle Pursell, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Brian Kellerman, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.
Visitors present: Steve Williamson, Marilyn Smith, Shirley Welsch, Adrienne Wilson, Caitlin Cushman, Heather Genesio, and Stuart Morgenstern.
Visitors were welcomed and invited to address the Board. Steve Williamson asked what impact Governor Pritzker will have on PCHS. Jeff Egbert asked if the Board is preparing a response to the complaint someone continues to voice about Kyle Pursell serving on 2 local school boards.
Mr. Wilson congratulated the boys’ basketball team for winning their Regional Tournament Friday night, and Ryder Parson for finishing in the top 16 at the Wrestling State Tournament. He highly praised Megan Breslin and Noah Conner for being selected as IHSA Academic All State. He reported that Congressman Mike Bost visited PCHS last week during National FFA week and talked to our FFA members. They enjoyed an informative question/answer session.
Mr. Hagene will be attending the Alliance Leadership Summit in Springfield on February 26 & 27. He reported that he had sent a letter of intent to lease a bus garage from Larry Loos.
There were no FOIA requests this month.
It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Brian Kellerman to approve overnight and out of state trips as presented. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
Mr. Hagene presented on the tentative master schedule.
It was moved by Jennifer Robb and seconded by Kyle Pursell to set the 2018-2019 school year graduation date for Sunday, May 19th at 2:00 pm in Thomas Gym. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Jennifer Robb to enter closed session at 6:51 pm for the purposes of discussing appointment, employment, compensation and performance of personnel. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.
It was moved by Jennifer Robb and seconded by Kyle Pursell to return to open session at 7:24 pm. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Kyle Pursell to approve the employment of Mr. Matthew Blair as Math Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Roll call: Lisa Stanton, yes; Greg Thompson, yes; Jennifer Robb, yes; Brian Kellerman, yes; Greg Bigham, yes; and Kyle Pursell, yes. All ayes. Motion carried.
It was moved by Kyle Pursell and seconded by Jennifer Robb to accept the resignation of Mr. Dwayne Epplin as Assistant Volleyball coach. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
It was moved by Brian Kellerman and seconded by Lisa Stanton to accept the resignation of Mr. Hunter Queen as Assistant Softball Coach. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
It was moved by Lisa Stanton and seconded by Kyle Pursell to adjourn the meeting at 7:26 pm. Voice vote. All ayes. Motion carried.
