The price of local government in 2017: City of Red Bud

The City of Red Bud budget was $11.02 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $7,176 per household.

That's an increase of 8.5 percent from 2016, when the city spent $10.16 million, or $6,613 per household.

Red Bud has 1,536 households and a population of 3,559.

Since 2001, the City of Red Bud budget has grown by 256.4 percent, from $3.09 million. The city population has grown four percent over the same period, from 3,422.

Salaries accounted for 14.7 percent of city spending in 2017. Red Bud property taxpayers paid $1.62 million for 35 full-time employees and seven part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 23 full-time employees and 15 part-time employees, and spent $1.37 million.
