Samantha Steely loves being a dental assistant at Teel Family Dentistry.
“Dr. Teel is hands down the best boss I have ever had,” Steely told SW Illinois News. “My favorite thing about my job would have to be the staff. From my very first day, they made me feel welcome and comfortable.”
Steely became a dental assistant in January 2018 and helps with a variety of procedures from fillings to root canals.

“I want to make the patients as comfortable and welcome as I can, to help make Dr. Teel's job easier, and maintain a great atmosphere for the patients and coworkers,” she said.
Steely was a patient at Teel Family Dentistry in Du Qoin before she started working there.
“Timing and situations were just right when they hired me,” she said. “They were looking for an extra set of hands, and I was looking for another job.”
Steely was born in Columbia, Tenn., and raised in West Frankfort, where she still resides. She is currently a nursing student at John A. Logan College and is expected to graduate this month with an associate’s degree in nursing.
“Every aspect of health care is beneficial and I knew when choosing what field I was going to go into that I wanted to be a part of helping others,” Steely said.
Steely is an elected class officer for the ADN program at John A. Logan College, an advisory board member for the Trio program, and chair member for the ADN Easter egg hunt for children with special needs. She also tutors at the college. Steely volunteers with the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, and donates to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.
When she’s not studying, working or volunteering, Steely enjoys spending time with her family and friends, baking and cooking, being outdoors and trying new things.
