2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Monroe County?

There were six offenders released on parole during 2018 that live in Monroe County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by SW Illinois News.

The data shows that three men and three women were released in Monroe County. The median age of the parolees was 40. The youngest parolee was a 31-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017, and the oldest was a 56-year-old man convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2015.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was David A. Shelton. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2015 when he was 52 years old. He is now 56.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in 2018 in each Monroe County municipality.
